As urban farming becomes a viable alternative for land use in Chicago, Urban Growers Collective is leading the way with their unique initiatives. While they are rooted in urban spaces and growing food in cities, their goal is to provide pathways to healing and increased economic opportunities in communities that need it the most.

Several of their initiatives include a collaboration with After School Matters, employing 200 Chicago teens each year; the READI program, which provides training to adult men who are exiting the prison system; and the Fresh Moves Mobile Market which distributes food to neighborhoods that are considered food deserts.
